The Mountain Challenge

Where?

Ras Dashen is the highest mountain in Ethiopia. Its summit reaches 4,550m and rises up above the Simien mountains in Northern Ethiopia. This is an area of spectacular mountains, canyons and wildlife. We reached the top of Ras Dashen in a 14 day expedition through the Simien mountains.

This involved travelling over steep and varied terrain that tested the handcycles, and their riders, to their limits on the roof of Africa. The final ascent involved a 2 km trek across a boulder field followed by a 130ft climb up a cliff face
